Warrington BSL Choir, Sign To Music To Raise Deaf Awareness At The Legendary Cavern Sunday 30th April
Warrington BSL Choir, sign to music to raise deaf awareness. They have signed at major arenas with Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett, Mike Rutherford, Rod Stewart, Pixie Lott, amongst others, they have also signed with Liverpools own “Ken “Doddy” Dodd!
Also signing at local events and at Liverpool Airport, where both Sir Paul McCartney and Yoko Ono sent the choir personal messages to sign and read out on the day.
Jen Hughes of the choir says :
“This is the second time we will be signing at The Cavern, so excited and this time we are on the “Front Stage” the iconic brick arch stage that the Beatles first performed on in 1961.
Our aim to raise Deaf Awareness its surprising the number of deaf and hard of hearing people who attend concerts, and their friends “sign the music to them”
It struck me when I was leaving sign language class one eve and I got in the car turned on the radio and thought “God if you are deaf, you are missing out on wealth of words and stories in music” .. that’s why myself and others in the choir are so passionate about raising deaf awareness.”
